A Parent's Role in Tutoring

The primary motivation of the child to learn comes from the parent. Tutoring is most effective when the tutor, the student, and the parent work together towards achieving academic goals. Parents can accelerate the learning process by:

  • Checking homework everyday (assigned by the school and the tutor)
  • Structure daily time for completing homework
  • Providing a quiet place to study
  • Being available to help, but not doing the work for the student
  • Showing that reading and education are important
